Divine Mercy Parish

Church Picnic

312 Davis St. Scranton, PA

June 19 - 21, 2026

This too is one of the best of the season. The food is good and varied. The potato pancakes are great but the line is huge. Sometime an hour to get the pancakes. They have many games and fun things to do for both children and adults. The beer is ice cold but the beer tent is a little too small for my liking. The bands are usually decent. This is definitely one of the best. My complaint is there is little to no close by parking. Since I have a bad knee and walk with a cane parking two blocks away is not an option for me.

Update. This year free shuttle van from Mavis Tires to the picnic. I will be there again!

Elmhurst Roaring Brook Fire Company

Fireman's Picnic

Off Route 435

June 24-27, 2026

This is one of the best of the season. The food is great. The bands are great. All your friends will be there. Just a short ride from Scranton. Plenty of parking including handicapped parking. You can walk around with your beer. Games for children and adults. Huge basket raffle. The only bad thing is that very annoying siren at the hot wings stand. Don't miss this one or you will miss one of the best. More information as it becomes available.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish

Traditional Polish Picnic

215 Lackawanna Avenue

Dupont, PA

June 27, 2026

Between 1 and 8pm

Sacred Heart of Jesus in Dupont — June 27. Traditional Polish Picnic held Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. on the parish church grounds, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont. Homemade ethnic foods include pierogi, golombki (pigs in blanket), halushki, kielbasi, and potato pancakes. Also featuring theme baskets, games of chance, and live musical entertainment..The last time I went to this picnic is when it used to be 3 days. The food was good but they use annoying food tickets. The potato pancakes were great. The polka bands were boring. The beer was cold at the largest picnic bar in Luzerne County. Parking is tight and the neighbors are nasty. I never seen so many garbage cans blocking parking spots in my life. I doubt I will attend this year. I cannot rate because the picnic went to only one day and was three days when I was there.

Scrantastic Spectacular

Courthouse Square

Downtown Scranton

June 3, 2026

Starting at 4pm

Lackawanna County Courthouse Square in Scranton comes alive with the Lackawanna County Scrantastic Spectacular on Friday, July 3rd, 2026! With the event starting at 4:00 PM, bring the family and enjoy great food, games, local bands, and a live performance from The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic at 7:30 PM. Then sit back and enjoy the best fireworks display in NEPA! The fireworks launch location will be at the Linden Street Garage above Catch 21. See the Scrantastic Spectacular event map for best viewing locations.

This is a mediocre event. Parking is miserable. Hope you don't get charged twice in the ABM garage. Take over an hour getting out of the ABM garage. Incompetent staff at the ABM garage. Only 4 job johnnies, that I saw, for thousands of people. Plenty of understaffed food vendors and food trucks. Expect a very long line. Some seating but not nearly enough. Now the good. The philharmonic puts on a very enjoyable and patriotic show. The fireworks are enjoyable. I went for a few years but I highly doubt that I will go this year. Not worth the aggravation when you walk with a cane.

This is an ok picnic. Not a great picnic. Used to be better. The food is decent but very expensive. But keep in mind it helps the fire fighters. They have some handicapped parking. They have rides for the children. A beer tent where you can walk around with your beer. The firefighters parade on July 9 is entertaining and loud. They have bands and dj's. Some good, some not so good. There is lots of seating on the grounds. The bathroom is smelly. I will add more information as it becomes available. I will probably attend on parade night.

Join us for Dalton Fire Company 103rd Carnival Wednesday, July 8th thru Saturday, July 11th at the Dalton Fire Co. Carnival Grounds Carnival will open at 6:00 pm, Wednesday thru Saturday.

This is one of the best of the season. I recommend going on Wednesday when it is not too crowded and you will be able to get parking. Otherwise parking is very tight. The parade is on Friday. The food is good and reasonably priced. The roast beef and Chinchilla Hose pizza is excellent. They have a large beer tent. The bands are usually very good. Rides and games for the children. Just a short ride from Scranton I will probably go Wednesday when it is not too crowded. I will add more information when it becomes available. It supports a great cause.

This is a nice picnic. I used to like it better when it was at the other location. They have plenty of reasonably priced food. But the lines are long. The entertainment is great. They have an indoor bathroom. Large beer tent. They have free parking at the VFW and a shuttle bus. This one is definitely worth a visit.

St. Eulalia Parish

Summer Festival

214 Blue Shutters Rod

Elmhurst,PA

July 17 & 18, 2026

This is a typical picnic. Not very exciting. Parking is usually tight in the lot. I have trouble going down the hill to get to the picnic grounds because I walk with a cane. The food is decent. The staff in the food tent are some what inefficient. The bands are not exciting. Hopefully they stopped using those smelly citronella candles on the tables. The last time I was there they started using those annoying food tickets. You had to buy them in quantitiess of $5. I highly doubt that I will go this year.

This is a nice smaller picnic. They have plenty of seating. The bands are good. Usually there is parking at the gas station. Air conditioned indoor rest rooms. The food is decent and reasonably priced. Walk around with your beer. The bad thing is they still use those very annoying food tickets. I will probably be there Thursday.
